2022 - WOODLAND MOSS

I love moss and especially when I find it covering logs in the woods like this, there's something wholesome about it. Filmed on the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 with a slider from RatRig.
2022 - MIST IN THE VALLEY

A few shots taken one morning this autumn on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. I arrived on location to see the blanket of mist which had formed overnight so rushed down to the river bank to start filming. The early rise was worth it as the sun had burnt the shroud away come nine o'clock.
2021 - RED SQUIRREL

A short sequence showcasing the Eurasian Red Squirrel. Filmed with the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 coupled with a variety of Lumix G series lenses and Canon L-series lenses. The aerials were shot with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.
2020 - FLYING HUNTERS

Demoiselles perch along waterways during the summer months, occasionally darting off after prey items. Damselflies, Dragonflies, Skimmers, Darters & Demoiselles all have very similar hunting techniques which include hawking & darting. The former is a technique in which the hunter flies around, skimming across the water, catching prey on the wing. The latter is more of an ambush technique, the predator perches somewhere, flying out and catching prey when it passes.
2020 - THE COWS & THE EGRETS

Cattle Egret & Little Egret follow cattle around in order to hunt all the small animals which the big herbivores disturb whilst grazing. The flock make a lovely "garzling" noise as they feed which is pretty therapeutic. They are quite skittish so field craft and camouflage was essential to film them.
2020 - LAVENDER HARVEST

These lavender plants have been here for quite a while now and every year they attract hundreds of pollinators, including Hummingbird Hawk Moths which are just amazing to watch. Unfortunately I only had access to 180fps as my highest frame rate which doesn't do them justice! Sitting next to the flowers on a warm summer evening can be very therapeutic, there's something soothing about all the buzzing and the lavender scent.
2020 - CHERRY SEASON

Cherry trees provide wildlife with an important food source towards the end of Spring. If you want to attract animals to your garden, your best bet is to provide them with vital resources; water, food and shelter. Filmed with the Panasonic GH5 alongside Panasonic and Canon lenses.
2019 - MIST & FERNS

A crisp autumn morning forage for the local Wren amongst the mist and ferns.
Filmed with the Black Magic Cinema Camera in France.
2017 - IR TEST FOOTAGE
On wet nights, Fire Salamanders come out to hunt & look for mates. These shots were recorded in the Vendée, France.
I used a modified Canon 550D to film in pitch black conditions. By removing a protective filter from the camera & replacing it with an Infra-Red filter, the sensor becomes sensitive to IR light (which is invisible to the human eye) making it possible to film in the dark. This technique makes it possible to film nocturnal animals without disturbing them with bright lights.
